Simple Oxygen Face Mask — For Hyperbaric Chamber (Medium Concentration)

The balanced middle choice — more than a cannula, simpler than an NRB.

Medium-Concentration Oxygen Delivery — The Balanced Middle Choice

The Regular Oxygen Face Mask — sometimes called a "simple face mask" — delivers 40–60% FiO2 at moderate flow rates. It's the middle option between low-flow nasal cannulas (24–44% FiO2) and high-concentration non-rebreather masks (80–95% FiO2), and it's the right choice for many everyday HBOT users who want more oxygen than a cannula provides but don't need the maximum saturation of an NRB.

Simple face masks are also the preferred delivery option for mouth-breathers, users with nasal congestion or sinus issues, and situations where full facial coverage is beneficial. The Prestige version uses softer materials and improved seals compared to disposable emergency-use face masks found in general medical catalogs.

Why the Regular Face Mask Is Optimized for Hyperbaric Chamber Use

Ideal for mouth-breathers and congested users. Nasal cannulas only work if the user breathes through their nose. If you have chronic congestion, allergies, sinus issues, or simply tend to mouth-breathe during rest — a cannula delivers a fraction of its rated FiO2. A face mask solves this by covering both nose and mouth, ensuring oxygen enters your airway regardless of breathing pattern.

Higher FiO2 than a cannula, less claustrophobic than an NRB. The regular face mask lacks the reservoir bag and one-way valves of an NRB, making it lighter, less visually intrusive, and more comfortable for users who find NRBs overwhelming. The trade-off is capped FiO2 (60% max), but for many wellness and mild HBOT protocols, that's exactly the right amount.

Side vents provide passive exhalation. Small side vents on the mask allow exhaled air to escape without requiring one-way valves — simpler design, less noise, easier to clean.

Softer face seal than emergency masks. General-medical face masks are designed for short emergency use. HBOT sessions run 60–90 minutes. Our masks use softer professional-grade rubber that stays comfortable across full sessions.

Universal oxygen fitting. Standard 1/4" oxygen supply connector — compatible with every hyperbaric chamber, oxygen concentrator, and portable tank.

Prestige quality upgrades vs. standard simple masks:

  • Softer professional-grade rubber face cup — comfortable for extended HBOT sessions
  • Upgraded soft-elastic head strap — no harsh plastic
  • Better face contour — improved seal reduces oxygen leakage
  • Reinforced tubing connection — resists tearing at the joint

FiO2 Performance Chart

Oxygen Flow Rate (LPM)Delivered FiO2Recommended Use
5 LPM40%Minimum useful flow for face mask
6 LPM45%Standard mild HBOT flow
8 LPM50%Recommended for most sessions
10 LPM55%Upper practical range
12+ LPM60%Ceiling for simple face mask design
Above 60% FiO2 — Step Up to an NRB. The simple face mask design tops out around 60% because there's no reservoir bag to buffer oxygen supply and no one-way valves preventing exhaled air rebreathing. If you need 70%+ FiO2, move to the non-rebreather mask instead.

What's Included (per mask)

  • 1 × Regular Oxygen Face Mask (adult universal fit)
  • 1 × Soft adjustable head strap
  • 1 × Side-vent passive exhaust design
  • 1 × 7-foot supply tubing
  • 1 × Standard 1/4" oxygen supply connector
  • Instructions for use and hyperbaric operating notes

When to Choose a Simple Face Mask

Choose the Regular Face Mask if you:

  • Are a mouth-breather or have chronic nasal congestion
  • Want more FiO2 than a cannula but find NRBs claustrophobic
  • Are running mild HBOT (1.3–1.5 ATA) where 50% FiO2 is sufficient
  • Prefer a simpler mask without a reservoir bag hanging in front of your face
  • Have a child or elderly user who needs face coverage but finds NRBs too intense

Step up to an NRB if you:

  • Need FiO2 above 60%
  • Are running higher-pressure HBOT (1.75+ ATA) protocols
  • Are treating a specific condition that benefits from maximum oxygen saturation

Step down to a Cannula if you:

  • Are a comfortable nose-breather with no congestion issues
  • Prioritize facial freedom (talking, drinking, reading) during sessions
  • Are running long daily maintenance protocols

If you have a chamber not listed here, contact us at prestigehyperbaric@gmail.com or 727-591-4268 — our masks and hoses use standard oxygen fittings and are compatible with essentially every hyperbaric chamber in use today. Because so many wellness chambers are OEM-produced in China and rebranded for the US market (soft-shell 1.3 ATA and hard-shell 1.5–2.0 ATA), our masks work with virtually every consumer, wellness, and clinical chamber in circulation.

Replacement Schedule

For optimal safety, hygiene, and oxygen delivery efficiency, we recommend replacing your mask at least once every 30 days with regular use. High-frequency users (daily sessions) or clinical operators should replace more often. Masks are single-patient devices — do not share between users.

Signs your mask needs replacement:

  • Discoloration or yellowing of the plastic or rubber
  • Cracking, stiffening, or loss of pliability in seals
  • Any tear, hole, or damage to the reservoir bag or tubing
  • Loss of head-strap elasticity
  • Persistent odor after cleaning

Order in quantity to save — our clinic case pricing brings per-mask costs down significantly.

Bulk & Clinical Orders

Running a hyperbaric clinic, wellness center, or high-usage facility? Our case pricing offers substantial savings over single-unit costs, and we're happy to work with clinical operators on standing orders and custom fulfillment schedules.

  • Volume discounts built into every product — see quantity pricing above

Backed by Peer-Reviewed Research

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy works because pressurized oxygen dissolves into blood plasma at levels far higher than normal breathing allows — reaching tissues that regular circulation cannot. The efficiency of that oxygen delivery depends heavily on the mask and delivery system used inside the chamber.
